Weekend Blog

Hi Class,

For the weekend, I want you to start thinking about the benefits and downfalls to things like Google, Facebook, and Wikipedia. What effects do these technologies have on traditional institutions like libraries, books (yes, the things with a cover and actual pages), and the way we interact?

Have a great weekend!

  1. Google, Facebook etc.. are beneficial because it large amounts of information in a fast amount of time. Its easy for us to type in questions or words for exactly what we want to know and have the answer within 30 seconds. Where as with books and magazines we have to actually read to find the answers we want. The downside to google and the internet is that not all sites are credible. Its easy for anyone to make a web page and write what ever they want and who ever can read it. Books have to be printed, published and sold.
